Wednesday 23 rd April 2014...

(This is my feet!)

Yes these are my feet!!

I love these shoes... they are Clarks brogues and really comfy.  Well the reason I posted the photo was to show you how silly I am!! Can you spot the deliberate error?? Goodness I feel silly.. ha ha but I have left it!

That's right I have laced them up differently!  I call it quirky! hee hee

Ok so what have I been up to today??

Well I spent a little time over my parents house, you know caught up with them, chatted and laughed ... that type of thing.  Then come home and collapsed in a heap in my chair...

See the tablets the doctor gave me yesterday made me really sick, I was so ill last night I have decided not to take them.  This is a major issue now as I need to have a large iron intake... from somewhere.  I eat a lot of vegetables.. I can only eat so much!  But my iron levels are really low and no matter how many vegetable I eat I dont think it will be enough.  I dont eat meat so its really hard.  I think its back to my doctor...

I really dislike having no energy, I feel like a slug :(

As far as stitching goes I have done a little more... not much but a little...

Its Peter Polar bear wearing a polar neck jumper!  Ha ah no head yet... that comes next!

I am really loving stitching the Advent Animals... cannot wait to see what animals are next.

I did go out later in the afternoon as I had my English class... I took an exam just before the Easter break and wanted to know if my result was in....

No! No results :(  The class is on the top floor (3rd floor) and I found it hard going up the stairs... unfortunately I had to take the lift.  And then sat in the class really tired.

I enjoyed my English class today, its was actually really good fun.  I have another exam in 5 weeks!! Eeeek!!

Yes my maths exams are just one week after the English one!

So sorry this is rather a dull post.. I hope to be feeling better tomorrow and have hopefully finished my Peter Polar Bear too :)

Thank you for sticking with me.. smiles to you all :)

  1. Hi Jacquie, you may need an iron infusion. My daughter has to get one every now and then. It brings her iron levels right back up.

  2. Have you tried iron sachets? You mix them into water or orange juice. They are supposed to be easy for your body to absorb. Those shoes are gorgeous!

  3. So sorry the pills are not working for you. My son's girlfriend actually has low iron as well and she passed out in front of me so I know it can be very serious...I know you don't eat meat but if you eat fish Salmon is a good source of iron. The following are also good: Pumpkin Seeds, 80 Per Cent Dark Chocolate, Dried Thyme, Blackstrap Molasses, Sulfite Free Dried Apricots, Lentils, Large Potatoes, Spinach, Quinoa, Kidney Beans, Tempeh, Tofu, Black Beans, Tahini, Broccoli. The iron content in some raw greens, like spinach and chard, can be absorbed more easily when they're sautéed. I hope the doctor is able to prescribe something that works for you!! Hope you feel better soon!!

  4. Hi Jacquie!
Being vegetarian, I have the same problems with iron, and I understand well when you say that you sometimes feel like a slug.
Periodically I use a natural product sold here in Italy, called Acciaiovis that is a good source of natural iron, very assimilable, but it is really very expensive... I don't know if it is available in the UK, but maybe you can look for a similar product in your country. I will send you the link to the website by e-mail, so you can give a look.
But about iron I have two tips for you: first, remember that to help your body to assimilate iron you have to add Vitamin C (simple fresh lemon juice on your vegetables will work) and, most important, avoid drinking tea or coffee when you eat foods rich in iron, because the caffeine in these drinks hinders the absorption of iron.
I wish you a sunny happy day!

  5. Spinach salads for you then!!! My little sis had to take iron tablet while pregnant & like you stopped taking them because they were making her physically ill... I hope your GP will find a good alternative. Take care xx

  6. Nice shoes, they look very comfy.
Hope the dr can give you something to sort the problem.
Loving the fabric you chose for the little advent folks.
