what I did on Wednesday 31 st July 2013 - the last day of July...

Middle of the week!!!! 

This morning at 11 am Han and I went along to see our favorite chap for a workout session... https://www.facebook.com/PeakPhysiqueSussex?fref=ts

Been doing cardio, squats, crunches and arm raisers today :)  Not sure what happened to my arms today but OH they felt so weak.  Need to lift some tins of beans I think!!

Its funny I go along to Peak Physique and I feel really good after the exercise, it gives me that happy feeling to want to do more.  Its motivating myself... and I think for me and others that have weight to lose, motivating yourself to do something is the hardest thing ever.  Whilst doing the session both Han and I love it and give 100%, we think its because some one is telling us what to do... when you are left to your own devises, its, OH I will do it later, or I dont have time today!  

Its a shame I cannot afford to keep it up... that is the hardest thing ever... the cost of losing weight.  I mean we buy healthy food... that is not cheap several times a week.  Then the sessions for both of us.... it all adds up when you are on a tight budget.

I think if I did have the money I would keep all of the exercise, swimming as I love that and its so good for you.  And the sessions as its all round good exercise.  We have 1 session left and then we are on our own.

That scares me a little to be honest as I know both Han and I need that interaction and motivation passed to us.

But I have to be strong and realize its not within out budget and get over that and move on... to do things in our home and other places that are free.  Talking of free... Han and I found an outside gym!  You know the ones that are in some parks... this one is on the sea front!

OK so food...

When I returned from our session this morning I ate a banana and drank loads of water.

Then I ate scrambled egg...


And an yogurt...



And some nuts and seeds...




And dinner... Funnily enough its what I ate yesterday!! I told you I made heaps of it!! Oooh looks a bit misty, that is due to the steam, its hot!!


I am no quitter... still here...  :)

Today Tuesday 30 th July 2013 feeling good....

I am feeling GOOD today!

Thought I would share some photo's Han took this afternoon of me....


I wish I had taken the same photo's when I started!  Ho hum!!  I know from photo's previously taken of me that my stomach, hips, knees and bust have all reduced.  

I am feeling on top of the world right now, as its clearly the first time that I can see a difference!  And to be honest its the first time I dont feel huge :)

OK so food...

I was out this morning taking Jon to a hospital appointment, and I actually forgot to eat! ha ha ah  Really I did!  Shocking!!

So when we got back to our home, it was around 2 pm I made this...

2 whole wheat cracker bread sandwiches with philadelphia light inside.  With a Danio light yogurt.

As for drinks...

I have had 2 coffee's and this...

Water, ice cubes, mint, lemon and lime :)  (photo taken looking down on my drinks bottle)


Dinner... hmmm I had no clue what I fancied today :(

Jon and Han were having beef something!  Me... no no no, no beef for me!!  ewe!!

So I chopped up a load of vegetables, carrots, broccoli, green beans and white cabbage.... steamed it and then mixed it into some wholewheat spicy rice! 

And as you can see.... I made heaps of it!! ha ha ha


Here is what I ate for dinner...



I have been experimenting today... I saw a post with a snack done with cauliflower.... naturally mine will look nothing like the one I saw!! ha ha ha   As long as it tastes OK thats fine :)

OK so this is what I did...

Raw cauliflower, put into food processor to grate...

Cauliflower in food processor...

Cauliflower all grated up...

Transferred to a bowl...

Put the bowl with the raw cauliflower in the microwave, until soft and cooked...

I separated 2 egg whites and added to the cooked cauliflower...

Also added a sprinkle of garlic granules...

Then added some (about a handful) of grated mozzarella cheese...

Mixed everything up and then poured onto parchment paper on a baking tray...

All in the tray, pressed flat and thinned out evenly...

Cooked on a medium temperature until some colour shows...

Added another sprinkle of mozzarella cheese...

When cheese melted took out of oven, cooled and then ripped apart and placed in this box...

There we have it a healthy snack... 

A bit long winded... but worth it as it tasted really good :)  I like to experiment but they never seem to come out like what other people do.

We all need friends and support...


This is my friend Selina whom I met through studying with the Open University.  We had communicated for some time and even studied on the same courses.

I think looking back we were destined to be friends, we had one huge thing in common... our weight!! We both struggled to lose weight and lacked motivation.

The top photo of us both was taken about the middle of February 2013 when I was passing by her home!  It was when Han and I were on our way back from our mini cruise from Amsterdam... we dropped in and spent a few hours chatting and catching up.  

Selina and I both decided to do something about our weight this year... however we both have very different ways of approaching this.  Selina has done AMAZINGLY and I am so happy for her.  Fasting is what Selina does best, its great how she knows what her body wants.  Me.. I am not so disciplined!  I basically watch what I eat, very low carbs, low sugar and low fat.  All with plenty of exercise.

The exercise we both do is incredible.... I mean incredible, seriously, as before changing our lives we must of been so unfit!! ha ha ha  Selina and I are kindred spirits I think as we love the water and love to swim.  I am at my happiest when in water, I dare say Selina would say the same.  

We have stayed in touch and I have promised to visit her again once I have lost all of my weight... when I can wear my wellingtons!  No doubt it will be a emotional meeting... knowing how proud we both would feel having lost the weight.

I wanted to share this to say that even though I may think I am on this journey all by myself... in reality I do have support and amazing friends around me.  And not forgetting Han who has been my rock :)

One last thing.... Selina you look amazing, I am working hard to get to my goal and one day soon we shall meet up again :)


What I did on Monday 29 th July 2013...

I saw this and liked the words... so here it is! :)  

Monday .. thought today was going to be a bit more active than yesterday.. hmmmm

So took Han round her friends, then came home and did some sewing... (sorry not a good photo as the blinds were drawn in the room and everything is tinted light green!)


This is my project and as you can see I have a fair bit still to do!  I enjoy sewing, I find it calming and when I get into it everything around me just stops.

I had an interesting breakfast today!  As you will see from the photo!!  Ah well I tried everything to turn this photo around and it just would not.. so adds to the strangeness I think!

A small tin of pasta in tomato sauce with 4 wholewheat cracker bread with light Philadelphia.


Lunch was cracker bread with light Philadelphia spread in between, like sandwiches!


Dinner was roasted sweet potato and carrots with green bean, broccoli and fish.



Now today I must of had the taste of cracker bread because it looks like I could not get enough of it!! ha aha

I think my dinner looks HUGE... but broken down its just veg!  Oh and a small piece of fish.

Sunday.... hmmm an interesting day!  Went into town as they were holding a car and bus show.

We then walked all along the promenade... miles it seems!  Almost as bad as when we did Race for Life!  (was the same place)

Walking is good for you, but OH why is it when we do it its HOT??? Something not right there!!

As for food... I did not eat a lot, too damn hot and well I was not hungry!

Whilst down the town for breakfast/brunch I ate a cheese scone, sorry no photo as I forgot to take my phone!

Then when we got home in the early evening I heated up the mince from yesterday and had a small bowl of that with some spicy chilli rice.


To be honest it does not seem like I ate a lot today but I have not been hungry.  I have continued to drink though...
